We Love KC - Mallory's Favorite Things

So, I'm a huge nerd for local stuff.

The other day I met a guy who was wearing an Easy Tiger Co. shirt and I pretty much squealed. The dude had no idea what I was talking about. But, really, guys. I love local.

So I'd love to share with you my top 5 FAVORITE things in KC. We lived in the downtown area for a couple years before moving south and my heart is still within the city limits. I could probably list off at least 100. But we'll start with five.

1. Coffee

Yes. I'm predictable. Anyone who knows a thing about me knows I absolutely LOVE my coffee. Not just any coffee. Local coffee. From Quay to Thou Mayest, Second Best to Post Coffee Co and everywhere in between, our local coffee scene is absolutely amazing and it always tops my favorite things.

2. Hometown Pride

The pride people from Kansas City feel towards our city is absolutely amazing. From cheering on the Royals or Chiefs to supporting small, local businesses, people from KC are proud of their city. Even transplants from other areas get swept up into the incredible culture our city has to offer.

3. Amigoni Urban Winery

So, I also really love wine. However (dirty little secret) I'm not a huge fan of Missouri wines. I have always preferred drier vs sweet wines and Missouri tends to lean sweet. For my 25th birthday, though, my husband brought me to Amigoni. It's a winery in the West Bottoms, specifically in the Stockyards district. When we walked in one of the bartenders told us, "We wanted to make something we'd actually drink and we hate sweet wines." Sold. If you like local cheese, amazing wine and a really cool atmosphere, definitely check it out.

4. Fall

The fall in KC is absolutely gorgeous and my absolute FAVORITE season. I've always said I couldn't live in a place with no Fall and we have a pretty hard one to beat. Cool air, farmer's markets, apple and pumpkin picking, football, and all the family-friendly activities...not to mention that gorgeous drive down Ward Parkway.

5. Birth Options

Okay, this one might seem like a cop out because I'm a doula. Hear me out. We have friends within our certifying organization from all over the world. Literally. We get to hear all about the birth cultures all over the place and really, we have an amazing one. From safe home birth to our birth centers to one of the highest level NICUs available I'm constantly impressed at our access to options vs my friends in other areas. Seriously, our birth options here are amazing!

There you have it! My 5 favorite aspects of our gorgeous, diverse, and amazing city. When presented with the option to leave, I wouldn't! I adore my hometown (okay, I wasn't born here) and pretty much everything about it!
